If you're new to critical care this book is a MUST!!'

Can't say enough good about this book. An ABSOLUTE NECESSITY if you're new to critical care. New nurse or already a nurse going back into critical care. Don't let the cheesy title fool you. It covers all of the physiology behind each learning objective and includes nursing considerations. It explains the rational for each type of monitoring and different types of catheters. Especially great if you're a visual learner like me. Even if you aren't visual learning helps you retain more and understand material much better. This book contains so many great pictures after each learning section such as how to zero the line transducer and what the different lines look like and how to use them. I highly recommend this book. It's concise to the point but doesn't leave anything out. I am an RN returning to cardiovascular critical care after a long time off. I feel this book will more than adequately prepare me to perform on the job.

I can't over emphasize how great this book is for a visual learner. It isn't going to expand your knowledge base if you already understand hemodynamics in a functional capacity, but for visual learners it is a great tool and reference.

A history, not an interpretation

I picked up this book from my school library expecting it to go into great detail about the theory behind modernism and what it sought to accomplish. This book, however, as described in its subtitle, is a "short history," complete with biographical information about key players and rough overviews of the transitions of the movement. While helpful, the book is nonetheless not a book about modernist theory and shouldn't be considered one. It is more a history book than it is a literary or artistic text, and is approached from a specifically historical perspective.

Breaks SharePoint Down So I Can Finally Understand It

SharePoint is ENORMOUS and with that comes a lot of complex things that I had endless questions on it. It's spread so large that different sections of the product could actually have their own review books, but I'm glad they were all explained in this. There are always so many questions that people have about SharePoint so it's great that this book got straight to the point and started knocking them out one by one (organized by section of course, which was awesome) and just gives you actionable steps to solve your problems so that you know how to use SharePoint like a pro. Bringing in experts for their advice was my favorite part of the book because it really helps you blow through the learning curve. Waste of Money and Time

This first half of this book was great. Great story. Great characters. Great setting etc. Then because Faye (the chosen and Torkel's lady) made a mistake, was admittedly dimwitted and gullible; he completely turns his back on her. I mean, this is supposed to be a race that values and protects women at all costs. So, even if he falsely believed she did wrong I can't see him leaving her with people he knows are torturing her and plan to sell her into slavery. WTH?

He ends up rescuing her thinking she's someone else. Then would have been a good time for him to learn of the torture she endured but refused to tell anything of him or his men even under extreme duress. But, no. Not a word that I recall. That would have been a good time in the story to turn it around. He ends up forgiving her after a long while and having threatening to have her put in prison. She was gullible yes. But, a criminal? NO. The whole book was for nothing when the hero condemns his lady without hearing her out or giving her a chance to explain. What a jerk.

It started really promising and the love scenes hot

My least fave among her books

I was looking forward to this book. It started really promising and the love scenes hot, the relationship was progressing in a sweet, funny and poignant moments.

Hero is very affectionate and utterly lovable. SPOILER ALERT: Unfortunately, something happened halfway through the story that just not my cup of tea, I mean for the heroine to go through that - betrayal, torture and heart ache. The story just went down hill from there. I don't like that kind of story that it kinda spoiled it for me even if the ending was really good and funny. Even if the hero found in his heart to forgive and love her again, I just didn't like the story anymore. It lost its momentum for me.

But the writing is really good, the story will hold your attention and the author's talents there and everything. I just don't like stories about betrayal and forgiveness. I dislike having the heroine tortured, kidnapped and helpless. I don't think I'll follow this series, the story left me feeling sad and dissatisfied. I am disappointed. I do hope that the Warlord series don't turn into this kind of story.

Disappointing and dissatisfying read

I too was looking forward to this new book by Michelle Howard since I loved Honor Bound. I'm afraid I was disappointed. Faye was shallow and I'm sorry, but stupid. All she cared about in the beginning was sex, Torkel's body, and keeping her secret . She was supposedly a smart woman - how could she bend to the blackmail when she knew that Torkel was trying to save women forced into slavery - not to mention the fact that she was putting his life and that of his men at risk? Torkel's turning his back on her when she was taken - not even bothering to look for her - really turned me off. As another reviewer stated, their reconnection was anti-climatic. Why didn't she tell him how she'd been tortured and refused to give up information? Why didn't Faye ever mention that she took the money because she thought she was helping a friend of Torkel's? She told Kyele, but never Torkel. I also hated that we were left wondering about Lindsey, and who the inside traitor was. Really disappointing and dissatisfying over all.

About the Author
Jeffrey Richards is Professor of Cultural History at Lancaster University. Among his books are Hollywood's Ancient Worlds, Sir Henry Irving: A Victorian Actor and his World and Imperialism and Music. The Railway Station: a Social History, co-written with John MacKenzie, has been reissued in Faber Finds. Jeffrey Richards is general editor of the Studies in Popular Culture series. John MacKenzie is Professor Emeritus of Imperial History at Lancaster University. He also holds honorary professorship of the Universities of Aberdeen, St. Andrews, Stirling and Edinburgh and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.He has published extensively in the field of British imperial history: among his books are Propaganda and Empire (1984), The Empire of Nature (1988), Orientalism: History, Theory and the Arts (1995), Empires of Nature and the Nature of Empires (1997), The Scots in South Africa (2007) and Museums and Empire (2009). He has edited a number of books, including catalogues for the National Portrait Gallery (David Livingstone and the Victorian Encounter with Africa, 1996) and the Victoria and Albert Museum (The Victorian Vision, 2001), and most recently Peoples, Nations and Cultures (2005). He is currently working on two edited works, European Empires and the People (2010) and Scotland and the British Empire (2011). He continues to travel extensively around the world, both for research and for pleasure, and has maintained his interest in railway stations and the societies they serve. A really enjoyable read for those of us who love trains, railway stations and history. Beautifully written, by serious historians whose writing has a delightful light touch. Nothing pedantic about this book, as it walks the reader through every facet of railway stations and how they enriched our world (especially Britain) over the years. I plan to read it again, just for the plain joy of it.
