About the Author

Peter Cole was a Senior Analyst on Libya with the International Crisis Group (ICG) during the revolution and the ensuing transitional government, providing policy advice and background briefings to the UN, EU, governments, companies, NGOs and most major media outlets. Prior to his work with ICG, Peter completed an MPhil in Modern Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Oxford.

Brian McQuinn is currently completing a PhD in anthropology on the 2011 uprising in Libya, as a Guggenheim Foundation Dissertation Fellow at the University of Oxford. He was previously the assistant director of the Carter Center Conflict Resolution Program and a conflict prevention advisor for the United Nations Development Programme.

All key players are covered and the recent split in the government is also covered. Book gives the reader good insight into why thing happened and the current stalemate in the government. Book also shows which country is support the two governments now in power. Interesting portion is also the political process and why the government lost control of the movement. Good read and enjoyable

All her texts, linked as they are by correspondences and permutations, wage a war against the common sense of the straight mind. Caselli begins by analyzing how literary criticism has shaped our perceptions of Barnes, showing how the various personae assigned to Barnes are challenged when the right questions are posed: Why is Barnes such a famous author when many of her texts remain unread, even by critics? Why has criticism reduced Barnes's work to biographical speculations? How can Barnes's hybrid, eccentric, and unconventional corpus be read as part of literary modernism when it often seems to sever itself from it? How can an oeuvre reject the labels of feminist and lesbian literature, whilst nevertheless holding at its centre the relationships between language, sexuality, and the real? How can Barnes's work help us to rethink the relation between simplicity and difficulty within literary modernism? Caselli concludes by arguing that Barnes's complex and bewildering work is committed to a high modernist notion of art as a supremely difficult undertaking whilst refusing to conform to standards of modernist acceptability.

About the Author

FRANK W. THACKERAY is Professor of History at Indiana University Southeast. He is author of Antecedents of Revolution: Alexander I and_ the Polish Kingdom (1980) and the co-editor (with John E. Findling) of the Events That Changed the World series and the The Events That Changed America series, both published by Greenwood. Also with John E. Findling, he is co-editor of Statesmen Who Changed the World (1993). He and Findling are also series editors of the Greenwood Histories of the Modern Nations series.

JOHN E. FINDLING is Professor of History at Indiana University Southeast. He is the author of Dictionary of American Diplomatic History (1980-89), Close Neighbors, Distant Friends: United States-Central American Relations (1987), and Chicago's Great World's Fairs (1995). With Kimberly D. Pelle, he co-edited Historical Dictionary of World's Fairs and Expositions, 1851-1988 (1990) and Historical Dictionary of the Modern Olympic Movement (1996). With Frank W. Thackeray, he is co-editor of the Events That Changed the World series and the Events That Changed America series and also series editor of the Greenwood Histories of the Modern Nations series.

About the Author

The author, Alex Mamourian MD, began his radiology training over thirty years ago and just when CT was first arriving in radiology departments. His radiology training included a fellowship in MR imaging at the University of Pennsylvania and another in neuroradiology at the Barrow Neurologic Institute. He is currently on faculty at the University of Pennsylvania in the department of Radiology. The focus of his career has been on radiology education and cross sectional imaging with both MR and CT.

Must read!

I read this book as a radiology fellow and I wished this had existed during my residency years. Textbooks in imaging physics are usually too easy for radiologists or literally incomprehensible for people who don't have extensive high-level math and physics background (like me). This book is for radiologists/ radiology trainees and deals with everyday physics that we may not even be aware of. The level of physics is tailored for this audience. It addresses several technical issues and CT artifacts the knowledge of which significantly optimizes and improves daily clinical workflow and ultimately benefits patient care. In a teaching position now, I recommend this book to all radiology trainees every single day.

Perfect for Boards Review

I'm currently studying for the ABR's Core Exam, and this book is the perfect review for CT Physics. It is highly applicable to clinical radiology, unlike many of the other RSNA et. al physics sources that are out there. The presentation style, using cases and multiple choice questions, to outline key concepts in practical CT imaging, is spot on with how the ABR is beginning to test residents in physics. Additionally, the case explanations are easy to understand no matter your understanding of basic physics. While it is certainly not a primary text for understanding the basics of radiological physics, I would recommend this to anyone studying for the boards as a supplemental review. You can get through all the cases in a day or two, and, based on my experience with the Core Pilot exam, the multiple choice questions are EXTREMELY relevant. Now, if only he would make one for ultrasound...

Excellent book -- highly recommended.

This is an excellent book -- very clinically relevant and easy to read. I recommend that first-year residents read this book prior to taking solo call. I found it amazing how many of the cases I actually encountered overnight. I certainly would not have struggled with some of the cases if I read this book prior to taking call myself.
